TFL Interview With Kurtis Colamonico

- A lot of people get turned off when they see a skate boarder covered in tattoos and jewelry. How do you feel about those stereotypes?
They just need to worry bout themselves, they aren’t gonna get anywhere worrying about others that may look different or be into different things .

- I’ve heard rumors about you signing with DGK, any truth to that? How did it happen?
Yea, it’s true. Stevie had come up to me after the Maloof Cup and we talked. He offered me to rock with DGK, I told him I’d be psyched and let’s do it. DGK all day.

- Weed or pills? Liquor or syrup?
Pills and syrup cause it mellows you out and you can’t really act to much of a fool, but you may sound like one while under the influence of those types of drugs.

- Skateboarding has allowed you to do quite a bit of traveling, what’s your favorite place in the world outside of California?
Yes it has, thank God. I never thought I’d be doing all of this, it’s a blessing. I’d have to say my favorite place would be Barcelona because of the (skate) spots, it’s just hard to communicate when you don’t speak a word of Spanish.

- After shoulder surgery you had a pretty big comeback at the Maloof Cup, how do you think you measure up to the rest of the pros out there right now?
I was worried bout comin’ back so soon, jumping down the legit street course they had. I thought I measured up as well as I could have after such a quick recovery.

- What’s one thing that annoys you in skateboarding?
Kids that skate with headphones get the fuck outta the way.

- If skateboarding gave you everything you have why do you get so angry when you film?
I get angry because shit can get aggravating, man. One day things will work and the next they don’t so it tends to get on my nerves.

- Why are you obsessed with Long beach?
Because when you actually love where you were raised, you appreciate it to the fullest. If I wasn’t from where I’m from, I wouldn’t be the individual I am today.

- What’s the biggest perk of riding for Famous?
It’s the most looked at clothing company, period. Nobody out there does it like us.
