Travi$ Barker Solo Album

It was about a year ago when The LA Times reported that Travis Barker would be releasing a solo album. In just two short days, Entertainment Weekly jumped on the story, adding a list of possible contributors who would lay vocal tracks over the drummer’s eclectic and aggressive beats (a who’s who of recording artists, including the Game, Willie Nelson, Damian Marley and Lil Wayne).

Those rumors and reports began to dwindle as Barker devoted more time to his collaboration with DJ-AM as well as his reunion with Blink-182. As recently as yesterday, however, new buzz began to take form on the Internet. So far two reports have hit message boards, galvanizing interest and intrigue from fans. “LVish” posted the following on 182online.com: “Been listening to a new [Travis Barker] track, out on his album next year, pretty dope guests u may not expect. It’s pretty fresh”; the more reliable source is Jason Tate, CEO, Webmaster and founder of AbsolutePunk.net, who posted: “Looks like Travis Barker will have a solo album out next year.”

Barker’s reputation as the music world’s preeminent drummer solidified when his video remix of Soulja Boy’s “Crank That” (the video is embedded below) went viral, garnering 27,495,932 views to date. Since then Barker has been sought out by the biggest names in hip-hop to work on remixing various songs, and has been labeled by Compton gangsta rapper the Game as “the dopest drummer alive.”

An official release date for Barker’s anticipated LP has not been announced.
